Workload Assessment
Activity: Your case study indicates that the medical assistants have expressed concern about their workload variations depending on the average patient scheduled visit (i.e., patient every 15, 20, 30 minutes). Using the Excel dataset, determine the validity of the medical assistants’ concerns. This requirement means you must arrive at a conclusion concerning the concerns and support your decision with evidence from the data. Prepare a workload assessment document in Microsoft Word to fulfill these requirements.
This question requires you to analyze the provided dataset, identify workloads, and identify process bottlenecks. Using the case narrative, analyze the data based on the different patient scheduling strategies of 15-minute, 20-minute, and 30-minute intervals. Well constructed answers will also examine the data to determine whether wait times are impacted by specific physicians and/or medical assistants.
The analysis required to determine if the MA perspective concerning patient-room turnaround time is a factor to consider includes calculating the following:
· Average patient wait times by component and in aggregate (in minutes) for the patient visit process based on patient schedule times (i.e., 15-minute, 20-minute, or 30-minute increments)
· Average patient wait times by component and in aggregate (in minutes) by physician/MA per each patient schedule time (i.e., 15-minute, 20-minute, or 30-minute increments)
· Average patient care times by component and in aggregate (in minutes) for the patient visit process based on patient schedule times (i.e., 15-minute, 20-minute, or 30-minute increments)
· Average patient care times by component and in aggregate (in minutes) by physician/MA per each patient schedule time (i.e., 15-minute, 20-minute, or 30-minute increments)
You should use the Excel data and apply a subtotal or pivot table analysis to analyze the data.
Discuss the impact of the different scheduling increments on the various value-added and non-value-added activities that result in patient wait times and patient perception of quality care.
Submit one(1) Microsoft Word document to the proper dropbox for this activity. You should not submit any Excel or any other format files. You may use a tool such as Excel to perform your analysis, but all of your content should be in your Word document. Embed any supporting evidence from your analysis into your Microsoft Word compatible summary document.
Rubric:
Student submission exhibits all of the following criteria:• The document is well-articulated and structured • The document clearly concludes whether or not the medical assistants have a valid workload concern• The document provides the following information:o Average patient wait times by component and in aggregate (in minutes) for the patient visit process based on patient schedule times (i.e., 15-minute, 20-minute, or 30-minute increments)o Average patient wait times by component and in aggregate (in minutes) by physician/MA per each patient schedule time (i.e., 15-minute, 20-minute, or 30-minute increments) o Average patient care times by component and in aggregate (in minutes) for the patient visit process based on patient schedule times (i.e., 15-minute, 20-minute, or 30-minute increments)o Average patient care times by component and in aggregate (in minutes) by physician/MA per each patient schedule time (i.e., 15-minute, 20-minute, or 30-minute increments) • The document discusses the impact of different scheduling increments on the various value-added and non-value-added activities that result in patient wait times and patient perception of quality care.• The document is professional in appearance with no formatting issues.
