Week 8
This week, you will prepare a video presentation with a PowerPoint file. You will create your video presentation by using a video capturing tool located in NCUOne. To access the video capturing tool, follow the tutorial found in your Books and Resources for this Week.
Create a PowerPoint presentation that could be presented to your workplace about developing cultural competence in your profession.
Be sure your presentation includes the following:
Explain the concepts of culture, multiculturalism, and multicultural competence. Provide examples to support your findings.
Recommend self-reflection questions, activities, or exercises relating to course concepts. For example, you may want to incorporate an exercise on privilege or conduct a role-playing situation with counselors in attendance.
Explain how elements of culture affect behavior and interactions with others.
Interpret the role of diversity in the workplace to effectively work with each client, student, or co-worker.
Illustrate any barriers that might exist.
Provide tips for improving intercultural communication and interactions. What strategies do you recommend to improve inclusion in the workplace?
Include a list of five general resources about cultural competence that participants could use.
Incorporate appropriate animations, transitions, and graphics as well as speaker notes for each slide. The speaker notes may be comprised of brief paragraphs or bulleted lists and should cite material appropriately.
Support your presentation with at least seven scholarly resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources may be included.
Length: 15-20 slides (with a separate reference slide)
Notes Length: 200-350 words for each slide
